We asked the landlord to please send us a lease renewal because they forgot to (as per the law) on March 1st.

@britt I realize you probably don’t want to spend your energy on fighting but you could contest the increase based on the timing of the notice.

@stephaniepixie I may call around… but I think the only thing that would happen is they’d delay the increase until the 10th of June.

@britt Would a small portable dishwasher maybe help open up options for apartment hunting?
Apartments with a dishwasher are often more expensive so it might even out in the end.

it’s all just so blah. We’ll likely just have to stay month to month then find another place when we’re able.

@britt Unless you are determined to move, it might be helpful to call that free 45min tenant advisory service to clarify what they are getting away with by missing that 3 month timeline when you are still on a one-year lease. I’m not so sure they can just defer it by ten days because they forgot.

@britt Please don’t hesitate to tell me to back off if I ever go too hard. I don’t want to add to your burden. I’ve moved so many times and even the nice landlords often end up taking advantage of tenants when they can.
