      @deborahh @susankayequinn

      Lots of “vertical farming” in B.C.

      But lots water and more than a handful of strip lamps are needed.

      But a building setup with dense power, YES

        @deborahh @susankayequinn

        From my work as a biologist & plants, water always spills on the floor …

        From my work in IT, there is always a power bar on the floor somewhere …

        Not a good combination..

          @pinhman ha! I can see that being a problem... 🙂
          @deborahh

          I do think vertical farms have a place among the overall solutions to "how do we feed the planet in a changing climate"... I'm no expert on it, and I know there are some drawbacks, but I think it's a very specific use case that when used appropriately (and not envisioned as the substitute for everything) can be good.

            @pinhman @deborahh

            I mostly love the idea of repurposing datacenters into something that's addressing the climate crisis rather than making it worse.

                @deborahh @susankayequinn
                An operation like Vertical Farms would do the planning and setup to deal with mixing lots of electric with lots of water.

                Converting data centers to vertical farms has potential but it’s not simple and easy

                Perhaps data centre developers will see this as a fallback and design for it?

                It’s real people that eventually consumes the AI, and they do need to eat ….
