How does one find an accountant in #Ottawa

I've asked friends, but they all use Turbotax or H & R Block. I need a real person who will explain things to me.

Or are accountants mythical creatures like family doctors?

At least one of those web-based tax prep services you’d recognize the name of DOES have the option of talking one-on-one with a tax professional (video conference, like zoom calls). Maybe that’s a reasonable compromise?

@lmgenealogy ah. so, if you want an explanation of things, the service you want is financial planning, not tax preparation.

@ireneista Our financial advisor helps us with financial planning (retirement, inheritance, investments, etc.), but when we ask him how we juggle taxes for three adults with several unconventional forms of income (none of them a regular job), one of whom doesn't work at all but is too old for us to claim as a dependant, and taxes to two separate countries, he says we need an accountant.
