"The concept of “defensive walking” concedes to a status quo where the most vulnerable are expected to bear the cognitive and physical load of navigating a system designed for the convenience and speed of the most dangerous."

@dtkmelissa I am not surprised smart things are coming from Lanrick -- longtime fan of his work here!
But that's an excellent telling detail. *Cognitive load* feels like the thing people are covertly trying to shove onto other people's plates in a lot of spaces right now.

@leahbobet @dtkmelissa Dang you two we are colliding here ...
"Cognitive load" was the theme my Futures Lab team chose for our prototype "learning application". I am pretty sure we are not learning what Google (tm - the Empire) hoped we might. For example, building an "app" the point of which is to train not to need an app ...
The whole AI realm is inducing a socio-cognitive OVERload - it's piling ON all the extrinisic things we really shouldn't need to deal with in order to get shit done.

@johannab @dtkmelissa Absolutely agree, and also I am officially interested in whatever you produce as takeaways from that project. I'm handling it more in the organizing realm here, but cognitive load is really top of mind (heh) right now.
