    Drove highway 7 this past weekend and was bemused by all the anti high speed rail signs along the way.

    Highway 7 is now five lanes of traffic just before Peterborough. Its going to be high speed rail or a divided multi lane highway in the future through that highway 7 corridor. Honestly rail would be so much nicer than continuing to drive the 401 into Toronto.

      @AndrewHenry Being somewhat terrified is the only sane way to drive most of the 401. The divided highway down from Peterborough is also absolutely awful.

      But on a slow day, Highway 7 from Havelock to Carleton Place can be quite lovely. For a highway.

        @hamishb

        Yeah, that stretch of the 7 is quite pretty. Was fascinated with, and distracted by, all the beaver dams and ponds along that stretch.

          I often wish there were places to pull over and enjoy those sights (just to pull over; no 'amenities' necessary).
