    I love how this is mentioned as an afterthought, instead of being the actual story. 🤨

    “While in B.C., the prime minister will attend a Liberal Party fundraiser at a private residence in Vancouver, with tickets costing $1,775.”

    [Emphasis added]

      @crispius
      Fundraising at a private residence isn't anything new, and is, in fact, quite common.

      Do I agree that politicians should not be spending as much of their time raising funds as they do, yes, absolutely! Pu9blic funding of elections and parties is definitely something that should be!

      However, given reality, this really is a non-story, unless there is any evidence of untoward activities or the person running the fundraiser is a member of the Epstein Class.

        @evdelen
        Yes.

        We all know it happens, and we’ve all come to accept it as ‘just the way it is’—thanks in part to the media normalizing it like this. But it’s such an obvious pathway to political favouritism & corruption that it should be outlawed.

          @crispius Agreed.

          Public funding of political parties cannot come (again, thanks Harper for killing it once) sooner.
