“No one has a crystal ball, and it is early in an operation that will likely go on for days, if not longer,” Ali says. “But one thing is clear: Iran’s regime is facing an existential threat. Do not expect it to show restraint.”

@TheConversationUS Waiting for the US media to start asking, "Why don't they want peace? Why do they hate our freedoms?" What a mess.

So much beating around the bush “what does Trump want?” “what are trump’s goals?”
… Deeply unpopular at home, with resistance to his domestic oppression agenda, a never-ending slow-motion scandal in the Epstein affair, and a slowly gathering economic disaster, Trump needs a crisis (or five) to give him enough cover to truly take over a number of functions, powers, and controls that he does have … yet. Another war in the middle east might be just confusing enough that a lot of Americans will sit by in confused uncertainty while he grabs more levers of unilateral power. A war that creates credible terrorists threat at home coupled with the funding freeze for DHS could provide a “pressing need” rationale for folding the department into the military structure and giving him a military he can more easily deploy domestically against Americans.
