    Now that I'm more clear-headed, I realize that I forgot or glossed over some pretty important details of the hate incident that occured a couple days ago. I was really taken by surprise, and didn't understand what was going on.

    The man in the white pickup truck that drove at me was actually parked on the wrong side of the road, so that he could watch me from a good distance as I walked home the same way I do every day from my kid's preschool. He was watching me. I saw him watching me, directly facing me from further down the sidewalk, but I'm not rude and don't stare at people so naturally I just looked away and continued walking and listening to my music. It wasn't until I was in front of my neighbour's driveway that he suddenly put his truck into gear and hit the gas to turn straight into me. This was clearly planned to drive me into the neighbour's property where my neighbour could accost me. They not only premediatated this, but initiated it with deadly force to intimidate me.

    My first thought after this happened was that this man who was not from our neighbourhood saw me walking with a keffiyeh around my neck and got angry enough to run at me. Connecting more details though, I realize that he was definitely laying in wait.

    When the man came out of his truck swearing at me, the first thing my neighbour said to me was, "He's not going to punch you." That sent my alarm bells ringing like crazy, which is why I asked "What the fuck is this?" to which he directed his attention to my keffiyeh, to threaten me for wearing it.

    Seriously, what was that supposed to mean, "He's not going to punch you"? I couldn't understand why I should be expected to be punched by anyone, after being chased around by a truck. Now I realize that was him telling me, "We're just going to have a little talk."

    This man in the white truck seems to have been brought in for this purpose. He was the most aggressive, while my neighbour was the most threatening. The white truck was totally out of place, as my neighbour is very wealthy with only nice vehicles, as well as the other visitor in the red truck who was there. The red truck remained there the rest of the day, while the white truck left shortly after. The white truck was beat up, had extensive damage on the bumper, and had a very old, rusty, bent Alberta license plate... even though he claims to be Israeli. (After grabbing my keffiyeh, my neighbour asked, "Do you know what I am?", to which I asked, "Are you Israeli?" and my neighbour then slapped my Keffiyeh and angrily screamed, "That's right!" and told me, "You're an asshole!" while the man from the white truck pushed into me and said, "So am I!")

    I don't doubt that claim, but when he said it himself he called out, "I am Israel! All of us are Israel". Not Israeli, and not FROM Israel, but "We are Israel". That could simply mean they stand with Israel. It is a coded threat.

    And in all this, to mention my children... I can't even begin to say what I think about that.

    Now know that I have always had good relations with this and EVERY neighbour. This planned intimidation was specifically for wearing a keffiyeh. There was no other reason to hate me, but Islamophobia and Arab hatred. The belief that tens of thousands of children in Palestine DESERVE to be murdered; along with all those who support them abroad.

      And to my other neighbours who think this is only a natural consequence to somebody wearing a keffiyeh, I'm calling out your Islamophobia and xenophobic hate. Don't come near my kids again. I'd rather burn a bridge than leave this one open. As I have said, being Jewish does not make me your enemy. To accept this however, I cannot condone. I celebrate your Jewish heritage. I do not tolerate ethnic hate from anyone.

        @ned

        ffs. That sucks dude. Wish I lived in YEG, I'd totes be a Token Big Imposing Dude Optionally Wearing Keffiyeh you have over for dinner or board games.

        I can't control other Canadians having opinions and beliefs that I not only entirely disagree with but I, personally, find offensive. Alas, they're free to think that way.
        But I fucking can't stand Canadians who think they have a right to physically impose their personal beliefs onto others, that's un-Canadian. GTF out of my country.
