certainly looks like a super-spreading event, but normally meningitis doesn't spread this way... so the Q. has to be (which as yet has not been answered) whether this is a new stream of the disease that spreads more easily.... or whether this is a function of a gap in vaccinations?
Why is this meningitis outbreak so explosive?
There have been 20 cases since the weekend in one small area of Kent - but this isn't the normal pattern, so what could have happened?

@ChrisMayLA6 There are #meningitis flare ups in Italy from time to time - usually affecting teenagers. I imagine the Italian cases have been studied and there might be parallels. Knowing what they are might help.

Nodding back to yesterdays replies on British exceptionalism, I'm sure there will be little interest in Italy's outbreaks, after all they are not British

@ChrisMayLA6 Well, obviously, there’s Great British meningitis and what them what lives on the continent gets! The GB strain is superior in every way!

@ChrisMayLA6 I recall an outbreak I was vaguely attached to, that was eventually linked to a teenager with an eye infection, hence runny nose, so when he blew his nose or sneezed, he spread the outbreak strain around, as well as all the other activities teenagers get up to that enable menigococcus to be passed person to person.

Full English meningitis is so much more satisfying than Continental meningitis.
