This seems disappointing. The claim for being a caregiver for your spouse only works if they themselves meet a minimum income?

@action_jay Sure sounds that way.
But 2025 net? As in after taxes? Isn't it a little early for that to have been fully determined?

And this is why people don't enjoy taxes. You can't, but you can, but not that way

@mkj it's an easy 0 for a spouse who doesn't work

Alright, done and filed. Didn't see much movement when I finagled the caregiver amount in there but don't really have the energy to dive too deeply into it and the last thing I want is to get grilled by the CRA over a few bucks

@action_jay Stuff like this is why I do not even look at assistance options more or less.
Which is probably the point. I claimed my unemployment insurance (expired in 4 months) and Medicaid (Republicans are making it useless after 2026) but most other stuff is so means-tested it I don't think I qualify even with ~$3000 of income a year currently.

@TheZeldaZone I've heard a few times if people were aware of the benefits available to them, and they were actually accessible, it would destroy the system
