I'm sure this was spelled out back in Discovery, but *sigh* I don't want to re-watch to find this answer, so I'd like to ask you.
"The Burn". Was *all* dilithium exploded, or just dilithium that was currently in use at that moment?

@ZenHeathen There seem to be replies I can't see, but all dilithium was rendered momentarily inert. This led to a lot of it fracturing, if it was in use at that time. The galaxy had already been experiencing large-scale shortages prior to that.

@ValueSubtracted So if it was yet to be mined, it was fine?

@ZenHeathen Presumably - certainly the dilithium-rich planet at the epicentre was unaffected.

@ValueSubtracted Yes, we can see that in the show (that's a part I remember, since the psychic kid didn't blow up). But I further assume that all the galactic powers aren't newly-mining all from the same planet. I'm sure it's just that undisturbed dilithium (at least) was fine afterward, they just didn't use it because they didn't know what caused the whole thing. That would make sense. It's just that it suddenly hit me the other day that I wasn't sure whether perhaps they'd said it all went up, which wouldn't make sense.

@ZenHeathen They say somewhere in there that the shortages were pretty severe before the Burn destroyed a lot of what they had. I think most everything they have now is from that one planet.

@ValueSubtracted Yikes.

@ZenHeathen I guess that's why they're still invested in developing alternatives!
