Dinner with Mr Brexit: Bannon’s European Revolution – Planned with Farage, Backed by Epstein

Nigel Farage was the figurehead and his partner Laure Ferrari started it. Steve Bannon and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein were providing almost daily support

@skykiss I think this view is very pedantic and anti-democratic. What this basically says is that most people that voted for Brexit or Trump were dumb, and only their stupidity would let them fall for some Kremlin narrative. This is usually followed by some with "we need to test ones ability to vote to make sure they can't be swayed by misinformation". Yuck.

People weren't just misinforme, before Brexit and Trump, most people got screwed over by the financial elite in 2008, Americans saw banker bailouts while they became homeless, Brits saw endless austerity become even more... endless. Trade deficit countries in Europe were forced by the EU's deficit balance system to use austerity when their economies required capital inflow.

Everything you see as a result is people being exposed to the forces of markets, after politically, governments chose to "tighten the belt" and remove welfarism.

@budududuroiu Bogdan makes a good point about market forces/ government austerity. Taking it one step further: where Trump and Brexit became the same is that voters believed the disinformation telling them that there were easy solutions (i.e., elect Trump, leave European Union) to complex, multi layered issues caused by market forces/government austerity. These two disinformation campaigns pushed at--and hit- emotional buttons of raw fear while discouraging measured, rational thinking.

@skykiss Und same SVP, lässt sich anfügen. Die EU ist, bei all ihren Mängeln, ein fortschrittliches Projekt. Deshalb hassen sie die Rechtsextremen.
