Scientists who study sleep are warning B.C.'s decision to adopt permanent daylight time will disrupt sleep patterns and have a negative effect on overall health, especially for children, for whom adequate sleep is critical for brain development.

I already struggled to get my dog out and exercised before work without too many coyote incidents last winter with the late sunrises. Alberta better not follow suit and jump on permanent daylight time.

I had sharp and strong words about the misleading referendum the first time around. I assumed that the two 'options' (daylight saving time or continue changing clocks) was due to a scientifically illiterate government and their ridiculously loaded 'surveys' with questions like "do you want an Alberta pension plan? Yes or Hell Yes?"

I expected better of BC. Come on, Eby!

Albertans voted no to permanent daylight time so maybe you could've done better and offered permanent standard time as an option?

There are so many things going on, it feels trivial to winge about this but it's going to have a material impact on pretty much everyone's lives.

Write to your MLA before another stupid referendum question is proposed.

        It happened.

Instead of asking Albertans what they want, Premier Smith is asserting that we will do away with time change and stick with permanent daylight time.

I have no problem with tossing time change. But why not to standard time??

Permanent daylight time is a bad move for the safety of kids getting to school in darker winter mornings, this is a bad move for health as our circadian rhythms are not siloed from the rest of our health (including mental health).

We had a referendum. The people said no to permanent daylight time. Why did they not ask why? Why the push for daylight time instead of standard time?

Can someone explain this? From my point of view, it just feels like the worst option is always chosen with this gov.

        Step 1. Get consultation
Step 2. Ignore consultation and go down the worst possible path

Call your MLA. This is going to affect you.

@ShanonRose Yes, of all the bad choices it is the worst. They are thinking of the time in summer without considering the burden on the winter...
