In Alberta water is a precious commodity but according to the article three quarters of data centre sites will be in areas of already high water stress. A data centre can consume as much power as a city (see the proposed Olds) and as much water as a small town.
AI is no magic bullet but it comes with severe real world risks and challenges to our infrastructure and non-data centre life.
