    There's lots to dislike about U.S. social media platforms but the harm caused by their algorithms is top of the list. This excellent post from @technically_good provides detail on what algorithms do and helps us understand why the feature is important to tech companies. Remember, our personal data is the product when you participate on corporate owned, profit driven social media.

        @technically_good @ElbowsUpforDigitalSovereignty The tech barons always say they are no more accountable for what is posted on their social media platforms than the producers or owners of a physical noticeboard.

        Yet physical noticeboards don't have an algorithm that decides what is most visable.

        And the algorithm is why the techbro's are entirely to blame for what is promoted.
