    Ah yes, here are those promised 90 km/hr gusts. Guess I'll keep writing until the power (probably) goes out. (And then maybe write a little more on laptop battery)

      @sundogplanets we had a dust storm warning here in Winnipeg and a short period of rain. The sky was hazy with dirt.

      Cars along our street are covered in thin mud. It could have been the street cleaning, though some dirty cars are 5m from the street.

      I saw some tilling in fields outside of the city so I think a lot of the crop cover hasn’t developed and field soil might be at its most exposed.

        Still have power (so far) but there's a leak in the ceiling in a place that has never leaked before, and that I can't even figure out how it's leaking. There are solar panels, a new metal roof, an old asphalt roof, and a partial attic in between the rain and where it's leaking. Not great.

        (Not asking for advice, just complaining. Poor old farmhouse.)

          @sundogplanets We had a leak in our ceiling recently. Turned out the squirrels had built and enormous house under our solar panels and the water pooled up there for years, finally working it's way thru, in that way water does

            @jdarnold Oh nooooo! Yeah, I'll give the roof and solar panels a good check-over. When it's not 90km/hr gusts and driving rain.

              @sundogplanets water it's a relentless, nefarious foe. Good luck.

                @sundogplanets

                I was enthralled by the superfluid properties of Helium II when I first heard of it.

                But then, when I became on owner of old cars, a house trailer ("coach", in California real-estate jargon), an old house, etc., I came to realize He II got nuthin' on water!

                May Tlaloc have mercy upon your abode.

                  @sundogplanets My parents have a nasty leak over their kitchen – after flashing was repaired and they were promised it would never happen again. Nothing like driving rain to find an opportunity. sigh
