I sometimes wonder if I were to write and edit up a couple short stories, print them out and set up a booth at the local farmers market to sell them for a few bucks each... would anyone buy them?

@8r4d There are a few local events that are more specifically "maker's market" where someone selling zine-like short story or poetry pamphlets might fit in a bit more naturally, and customers might be more in the mood for putting some money down on an unusual arty thing.
Especially if you put a bit of effort into the presentation. Even something like printing so that it's a booklet of folded letter paper, stitched down the fold, with a nicely typeset cover page.
But you'd have to look at the cost per booth & figure out how many you'd need to sell to break even.

@8r4d This one (Oddbird Arts & Craft Fair) runs a few times a year. Next one is in a couple weeks, at the Old Strathcona Performing Arts Centre. Probably too soon to rent a booth & get merch ready, but you could check it out & get a feel for it, maybe ask vendors there about other markets they'd recommend.
Oddbird Art & Craft Fair
OddBird is Edmonton's chirpiest art & craft fair! Serving up all things weird, wonderful and delightfully Edmonton, since 2024.

(I found that on the Explore Edmonton events calendar, which often has includes events like this, although they're more common in the fall.)
