“Companies like SpaceX have stated repeatedly that their method is to “move fast and break things.” They are now close to breaking the atmosphere, the night sky and anything on the ground or in space that their satellites and rockets fall on or crash into.
Earth’s orbital space is a finite resource. There is an evolving set of international guidelines for operating in outer space, grounded in a set of high-level international rules. Yet, those rules and guidelines are inadequate.
One corporation based in one country should not be allowed to ruin orbit, the night sky, and the atmosphere for everyone else in the world.”

@aral Americans values success and money at all costs, including destruction of commons even for themselves , as long as a happy few get more money.
They don't even care you exists on the dame planet.
They are the only country that still push Oil forward and try to harm other energies, despite the global warming.
Nothing can be expected from those few , just that oil depletion finally put a halt to their greed somehow. -

@aral not a fan of The Conversation which won’t support independent academic research but I wrote my PhD about the ecological emergency and what you can do about it and it’s all soft stuff, diplomacy and community engagement, never war or breaking things. They’re schoolchildren who have power and money and never had to slow down or take consequences. Still. I’m living a good life largely by chance though also because I broke rules, not people or things.

@Robbins Aw, don’t think of it as one more rocket launch, think of it as avoiding 1,000,000 rocket launches.

@aral don't worry. More companies are ramping up launches and satellites. You can spread that hate around
