            @gamingonlinux it is an interesting argument that a lootbox is in the same category as a pack of baseball or pokemon cards, or a comic book grab bag. I don't play games with lootboxes. I have been VERY disappointed with physical blind boxes the few times I've gotten them, felt that I was not getting my money's worth from them. I feel like lootboxes would be the same thing.

              I do enjoy surprizes! Variety. I know what I'm getting myself into if I ever get any sort of "lootbox". That should be my decision to make. There should also be ways to obtain the same things directly for close to the same amount.

                @gamingonlinux loot boxes should be banned they are a limited time item as all the games that have it is multiplayer. Servers and services for it will eventually shutdown. Then all money spent is value is 0. Everything they trying to say it's like is a physical item so you get to keep it also there a chance that it's value increases. Yes game items if they can be sold to others can be more valuable. It's still a limited time though.

                  @gamingonlinux

                  More importantly - cosmetic surprises.

                  Unlike *most* gacha games, I believe the loot boxes in question are just cosmetic variants on the same items.

                  If you outlaw these - to be consistent, any blind box or booster pack card games also gotta go. In fact those should go first, because they have actual game-advantage items.

                  I expect Valve to prevail on the merits - or rather the lack thereof - of the Prosecutor's case.
