in reality I must admit that I have met many SM friends in-person over the years and have very rarely been disappointed for doing so.

Back in the old bird site days, one on one, small and big meetups were common, with strong communities and friendships formed, many that still endure to this day.

Those were different times, and might not be as easy to duplicate today, but realizing how life changing that experience was, I will always be open to meetups.
