Since I can’t sleep, here’s another hot take: The world would be a better place if everyone‘s science literacy was much better. There should be more emphasis on teaching basic science at all levels in school. Science isn’t just something nerds do, it’s the foundation of the modern world.

@davidho.bsky.social @Luke_Drury The education system of too many countries starts to force specialisation at 16. This is wrong. It’s also increasingly harder even than 25 years ago to cross streams. Employers don’t seem to want generalists or older people with wider experience. The economic means for people to change around has more or less evaporated apart from the most highly paid. To be able to afford to live as a (STEM) teacher is bordering on needing to be independently wealthy. In short it stinks. Mega corporations need to pay more taxes to fund a well and broadly educated population rather than gambling on tulips.
