Not necessarily, but I will add something to this... My favorite time of year to write is definitely autumn. I'm always excited when it's a time of year that comes up in my stories. It's such a beautiful, colorful season, and I can't resist good descriptions to set the mood.

#WordWeavers 12.30 — How has your writing been this year? Any achievements, wins, or lessons you want to celebrate?

It's gone *really* well, and I'm feeling very lucky for the people I surround myself with. My friends have helped me get here. I came in the top three (took 3rd place) in a huge writing contest and also published three stories in magazines over the last few months, two for original SFF work and one for #DoctorWho tales. I'm feeling pretty proud of myself for that.

I try to do this on the blog for my podcast whenever I get the chance, but today's the day I mention a close friend of mine yet again. She's one of my favorite authors, and I've also talked about her work *so much* on my podcast's blog.

Everyone please go show some love to @QuokkaMocha! She deserves all of it and more. Her storytelling abilities are so refreshing, her writing is incredible, and I adore the characters she creates. She also writes fanfiction as well! Above all, she's also one of my best friends, one of the funniest people I know (don't take a sip of water around her if she's about to tell a joke), and I'm so thankful for all of our conversations and chats. #WordWeavers 1.2 — How does your MC talk? Describe their voice and speech.

Both Alistair and Fenella are from Scotland. To say anything else regarding Alistair would be a major spoiler and I have readers here on Mastodon, so I can't elaborate. But yes, Scottish slang and all that, while it's normally written into my stories with Glaswegian characters, is gentler and more muted in this one for a wider audience. After all, it's not a story for The Thick of It featuring Malcolm Tucker, so I'm taking a different approach.

Alistair has a slower, deeper cadence. He's rather funny at times as well. Fenella hides behind an air of mystique, flirtatiousness, and witty cynicism. Their accents are rather thick as well, same as everyone in the area.

#WordWeavers 1.5 — Tell us about something funny that happens to a character.

Alistair gets frightened by Hati in the very first chapter, just as she's introduced and you learn that they're close friends. Also, I had to laugh as I was writing Fenella's return in a later chapter. His jaw was practically hanging on the floor in complete and utter shock. Fenella, after seeing Hati at the door, even assumed that they were a *couple* or lovers. Oh, boy. Hati was quick to shut that idea down and explain that they were just close friends. All funny moments.

Horror games, no doubt. Duncan would love them if this story took place in the modern world. But it would only feed his evil mind. The rest of us just like playing horror games for the thrill of it, and because we like being scared. Meanwhile, he would be taking notes on what he could and couldn't use during the "hunt," and that's a terrifying thought all on its own.

Isma: Almost *everyone* is younger than I am. I would tell them to look out for themselves. Stop caring about others so much. Be more selfish. Other people don't really care about you. It's never genuine, anyway. They don't matter, but you do.

Duncan: I don't give advice, and I would never take it. I don't care for friendships or kindness. Why bother with any of that? It just isn't worth my time.

I have, actually. First and foremost, I'll talk about "bloodbound" and what it means.

When someone becomes "bloodbound," it means they've turned into a vampire, and they're now bound to the blood and to drinking it. That idea came to me randomly one day and I couldn't quite let go of it, so I had to use it.

1. It's set sometime in the late 1800s (but the actual date is revealed later).
2. The supernatural exists.
3. Alistair is a vampire and an author, and is also close friends with a werewolf. That third one is a big taboo.
4. Alistair is still in love with a previous lover and it's a fact that Hati knows and yet hasn't said a word about until now.

Alistair does. So does Fenella as well, which she finds out as the story progresses. She's as much of a part of Dorcha Castle as Alistair is. It just takes some time for her to remember and understand that fact.

Right at my gaming, writing, and podcasting desk, my cozy spot, same as always, and it went really well. I've really been upping my writing game lately and pushing out chapters that will soon be published. I've been very proud of myself, which is a nice change for me. Writing is my escape from the chaos of life, which is the case for a lot of us in the community.

Evil and morally repugnant? My antagonists are corrupt and unhinged. They do things that are just plain wrong.

More to the point, being honest here, if Alistair was living the lives of either of the antagonists, he would turn things around and change his life. Here's the thing, he's a *good* man. He would live his life differently than Isma or Duncan.

Oooh, there's something I'd love to answer this prompt with but it would be the worst kind of spoiler given to readers, and I have quite a few here on Masto. I'll behave, instead.

Alistair: Meeting Fenella. We didn't care for each other in the beginning but there was something there, something inexplicable. I couldn't tell you what it was, but it was there for us. We became close friends not long after. It was the first exciting thing that happened to me in a long time.
