The Nonstick Soul

Like a nonstick pan,
This positivity doesn't always stick.
I don’t think it’s supposed to.

Sometimes the darkness seeps in
To remind me that without it, the light is invisible.
One does not negate the other;
They are a conversation.
A complement.
A contrast that creates the image.

It isn't good or bad.
It isn’t a war of Dark versus Light.
It is simply day becoming night,
And night becoming day.

A natural occurrence taking place.
This is life.
This is death.
This
Is.
