This is long, but excellent, and captures a lot of my thinking exactly - "The Slow Death of the Power User":
TL;DR - Big Tech and other interests have successfully turned most people away from understanding their computing devices, and we all suffer as a result. I strongly recommend reading it for anyone who cares about understanding what their systems do, or what to do when they go wrong, or who likes to build things.
It's from a couple of months ago, but I only discovered it when it went by in my feed here a few days ago.
