Finished - Empire Of The Ants, Bernard Werber (translated from French into English)

Frustrating read. Interesting ideas, but awful execution. I'm not sure if it's because of a too obvious and clumsy translation, or that the original text was already bad. I think both.
The blurred mix of real ant behaviour and total fantasy was highly irritating. The frequent spontaneous events to move the plot along (and then suddenly this happened), the just ridiculous inconsistencies (Over the radio - "Why are you turning your radio off?" "Because I want to do it my way", turns radio off).
    Arg.
As a reader I need to trust the world I'm absorbing, it needs to be consistent, reliable, believable. This was anything but.
I'm getting better at abandoning books. I don't know what I gained from persisting with this one.
