One of the things about spending most of your life in a cult is you don't realize how shitty some humans can be. The more visible I become online, the more I see how little some show respect for others. It has been quite the awakening, to be sure. I mean, in theory, I know that there are bad people in this world, but spending my life in isolation shielded me from fully experiencing how people treat each other when they don't care about someone or stop caring about someone. This is not at all a reflection on Mastodon and the positive culture we have fostered on this platform. This is simply my brain catching up to reality. Don't mind me.
