    It really sucks that it's very hard to just find reference images online anymore.

    I want to look at peacock feathers, & I just don't know if I can trust that any given image is real. Even if it seems to be from a legit site... how do I know they weren't duped?

    It's so fucking shitty.

    One can't help but think that making real information difficult to find is the purpose of generative AI.

      Anyway, I'm going to hit up the clearance section at Half Price Books to see what I can find for books with pictures of birds, flowers, & other natural things. They often have those big books full of photographs for 2 or 3 bucks a piece.

        @artemis if you have the space, Half Price Books would probably love you to take one of their encyclopedias off their hands.

            It really sucks how much AI has devalued the information you can find online, but it has made stuff that had become almost obsolete valuable again, so that's an interesting reversal.

            I plan to create a library of reference books for my art from wherever I can pick up photograph books cheap. Maybe I'll hit some thrift store book sections this weekend.

              @artemis I hear you. Half Price books and local used book stores here are great for that.

                  @TheTenuousOrder
                  I keep thinking how unhelpful it must be for the Trump admin asking Grok or ChatGPT for information about Iran. 😁

                    @artemis absolutely agree. I was trying to find a tips on how to find and fix a bad connection in a backup camera. So many pages were obvious slop, starting like “Your backup camera is an important part of your car. Here are the top 10 reasons why.”

                    I finally found a video with some 50ish guy in a garage and he started “today we’re gonna troubleshoot a backup camera.” That’s what I look for now. Older people who get right to the point

                      And may I tag on to your excellent point about getting right to the point:
                      I bypass all posts to the Fediverse that read like clickbait.
                      Don't entice me with a come-on or I WILL ignore you.
                      Thank you. End of rant.
