According to the rector decision in my university, the university library will put all research articles under CC license and making it publicly available regardless of the journal

    According to the rector decision in my university, the university library will put all research articles under CC license and making it publicly available regardless of the journal!
    This is an amazing news that promotes better research practices imho. I'm super glad that my university is taking these measures towards open and accessible science.

    Prior licence model at University of Turku from 1 April 2026

    The University of Turku has adopted a prior licence model for research articles by decision of the Rector (TY/440/2026). The model follows the internationally adopted Rights Retention Strategy (RRS), which ensures open access of all the University’s peer-reviewed research articles in the institutional repository immediately upon publication under a Creative Commons licence required by the funder.

        @davidjamesweir @Mehrad @academicchatter isn’t this an implementation of a ‘rights retention’ policy? Something that started in the US I believe and is now widespread in the U.K. eg see https://www.ukrn.org/2023/04/18/rrs-primer/
