Indonesia begins rollout of social media ban for under 16s today. Sites immediately affected are YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, Threads, X, Bigo Live, and Roblox. Others sites and services may follow. Communications and Digital Minister Meutya Hafid claims there is a digital emergency situation that necessitated this step.
Not sure how enforcement will be carried out, we have no online age verification system. And only fools believe the government can keep our data safe. They’ve proven time and again that they cannot.

@aulia@mementomori.social it's not age verification, it's ID verification. Making sure we only have an identity over a platform and making sure the identity is 1:1 tied to us. Stop calling it age verification. -
