@iFixit I just replace the trackpad on my used Thinkpad T14. It feels like a whole different class of device now that I can use it normally and it cost around $20 for the part and 10 minutes of my time.

@ThermiteBeGiants @iFixit favorite win, probably when I did a bit of a Frankenmac and replaced the screen in my wife’s MacBook with one from a dead iBook. Next hopeful win, resurrecting an Apple 2e that likely has a bad CPU or monitor ROM. Parts are on the way!

@iFixit I don’t give up on “disposable “/“unfixable” household appliances and electronics. IFixit tools have been essential to me troubleshooting problems.

@iFixit My favourite repair win is a PS3 controller that vad connection problems with the internal pad, or it is the cheap switch controller I jammed wood screws into to replace plastic poles on the triggers, fake analogue ofc because it's the switch.

I want to mod my PS2 next.

I refuse to give up on my WH-1000XM4s, one side swivels freely but it still plays music.

@iFixit I found an old PC in my father's study, one of those models from the late 90s with a plastic casing that's yellow with age. it has two DVD drives and a floppy disk reader. I cleaned out the dust but the capacitors on the motherboard are busted, so I think it's a good project to learn soldering!

@iFixit My biggest repair project is not electronic but my bike.. And the bike of my girlfriend.. And the bike of other friends.. When I am just thinking about it, I am the bike gnome in my friends circle...
The biggest electronic repair was my fairphone, so some almost triavially easy to repair device. But that is the one reason I got it. Love the repairability, more devices shoule be that repairable.

@iFixit I have an ancient Casio MIDI Guitar that no longer produces a MIDI signal. I expect it needs to have the capacitors replaced but I have not found out the specs I need.

@iFixit i repaired my Old GTX 1070 GPU.

Its fan was shutting down for no reason and boom, thermal overload all the time.

...so i took my other older card apart and found out it had fans with similiar connectors. So i just teared them apart and fitted the older cards fans to newer one. Did not had to buy new GPU and in this economy and thus it saved me a lot of money!
