    things that never happened and then the printer stood up and clapped too? because writing a kernel extension that bypasses Apple’s system integrity protection and driver kits requirements in a single prompt isn't a productivity hack it’s a miracle equivalent of Jesus walking on water 😂

      @nixCraft

      I also would appreciate this kind of hack or the prompt for any proprietary printer you want to have run under Linux.

        @nixCraft FWIW I've also got a beloved HP LaserJet that no longer works with my new Air because HP dropped support for it. Because I'm not INSANE, my solution to this problem was to just use my old laptop when I need to print something.

        I really don't understand the logic of dropping support. I thought they sold their printers at a loss and made it back in overpriced toner?

          @_RyekDarkener_ @nixCraft

          The hack is to buy this guy's laserjet - that would be dead fucking simple to get working under CUPS.

            @nixCraft "driver software" = installed a VM that could handle the printer, made a host-client share, wrapped the print command around a file copy, the VM has a cron job that prints anything in the share. ezpz. 🤪

                    It's just got one word wrong, that's all. "Re-wrote" should be "downloaded".

                      I'm a skeptic, point to the part where it doesn't say that.

                      Oh wait.
