"Bluesky has seen rapid growth from 13 million to, now, over 43 million global users"

    Might be worth correcting this:

I've done a full scan through all PDSes seen on bsky.network (listHosts and then listRepos everywhere), and I got such numbers: active: 39,207,881 (= meaning: repo is visible) deactivated: 427,544 taken down: 2,564,669 total: 42,200,094 so around ~1M would probably have been deleted. @jorgecandeias That's our monthly, going by https://fedidb.com/stats.

Their monthly is 5.11M, so still quite a bit more.

But not impossible to catch up, given the trends!

@stefan Ah. OK. Apples and oranges.

I'm curious as to our dailies, but I don't think there are stats on that. I have a feeling most people here (those that post, that is) post every day, pretty much. Now idea how that compares to the situation in BS.

@jorgecandeias Yeah, definitely would love to compare this!

But, and you probably already know, at least Mastodon servers only report the numbers for last month and past 6 months.

@stefan Yeah, and some server types have very unreliable stats (or don't publish them at all), which leads me to believe the actual number of active accounts is larger, maybe significantly, than what fedidb says.

@lexinova The thing is, there is actually a lot of momentum in the overall Atmosphere, with Blacksky already running a fully independent ATProto stack. And Eurosky and Northsky are working on this as well.

Plus all the other ATProto apps.

I don't know. My one prediction I shared recently was, we could easily see a more diverse Atmosphere where people can easily migrate between PDSes and AppViews and what have you, by the time Bluesky does enshittify.

                                We'll see!

@lexinova The thing is, there is actually a lot of momentum in the overall Atmosphere, with Blacksky already running a fully independent ATProto stack. And Eurosky and Northsky are working on this as well.

Plus all the other ATProto apps.

@stefan for me the AT proto itself is CRAP.

and i hope this crap come down fast so we can concentrate on fediverse who is standardised contrary to this cheap FAKE decentralised system.

                                    Simple question:

What does one get, in return for $100 million?

@lexinova Yeah, there are some ideas worth stealing, but definitely continue to root for the fediverse. Onwards!

@stefan the issue who make AT proto a crap is you cannot "just" join and make something that work alone and with them, or you need to copy the whole database.

the concept is plainly stupid and seem desined to "allow" decentralisation yet making it too expensive to actually achieve without them.
