This is what being rich means to me.
@lothcat THIS. I want to be rich enough to enjoy life and not be worried all the Time if I can pay the next bills.
Rich enough to afford healthcare.
Things everyone should be able to have! -

@lothcat *and high confidence that it _stays_ that way without permanently having to slap "the cutting tool" out of neoliberal politicians hands

@lothcat It's odd how very rich people seem often to be thinking about money all the time, and worrying about it, and having to step out of things to deal with it., and having opinions on it. It seems weirdly like being poor.
I think there must be a sweet-spot somewhere. Being rich should mean not having to think about money because you've enough.

@lothcat
I want to be rich enough to buy art from the coffee shop walls, and get a CD from the bands at shows. -
@lothcat what is this from?
@guigui3000 @lothcat

@lothcat Count me in!

This is what being rich means to me.
@lothcat yes to sharing, yes to community, yes to compassion, yes to mutual aid, NO TO BILLIONAIRE GREED. We need to collectively build a world where no one is turned away for lack of funds.

@chiffchaff @lothcat very rich people don’t think about money all the time; that’s a thing that happens to people who are rich but desperately want to become very rich.
The very rich literally hire people to worry about money for them. It’s very strange to watch.

@calcifer @lothcat true I cant afford one since my Partner lose his job for 3 years and couldn't find a new one. Its sucks and I think healthcare should be free avaible for the poor people. No one should worry about this. At the Moment I cant pay monthly for a insurance since I am the only one with a Income. I just try my best to create savings what is not easy with a small income

@lothcat
There was an NPR story in 2019ish that happiness increases with income up until about 75,000 USD, which is the point where the curve falls off and further increase is marginal. People with just enough not to worry about money we're happiest while rich people were never satisfied.
They had some asshole economist they were interviewing about it and he got so mad when they brought up the study and just insisted "nuh uh nuh uh NUH UH!!"" -
This is what being rich means to me.
@lothcat I’d add “and to not have to worry about the future”, but other than that, this. Definitely.
-
This is what being rich means to me.
@lothcat Oh, what is that from? That totally sums it up.
I don't want money for money's sake, I just want to be able to not worry and for bonus points be able to do nice things for other people. I don't really want have a big hoard of money to buy stuff I don't need.*
* Except a Batmobile. I do dream of owning a working replica of the Adam West-era Batmobile. But it would be an EV so as not to be as bad for the environment. Still gonna make flames come out the back, though.
