@401matthall It's a system under selection.
Not having slaves requires two things; making doing anything that even starts to smack of wanting slaves intolerably expensive (you will certainly die poor, alone, and without posterity) for one, and for two, you have to win every fight with any culture that does keep slaves until those cultures are extinct in the sense of no further cultural transmission.

@401matthall @jalefkowit slavery is allowed in Prisons in the US system. There are for profit prisons that once you're in you can't get out and the inmates must work as slaves. Republicans want that because MONEY. They don't actually believe in the Constitution.
