    Ditching daylight savings time is a great idea... but making it permanent is not. DST should simply be ended with standard time becoming the new year round normal. This is not only my personal preference (because I'm a morning person who goes to sleep at a reasonable hour) but is also supported by experts.

    'Scientifically not a good idea,' says researcher whose work informed B.C.'s daylight-time decision | CBC News

    Scientists who study sleep are warning B.C.'s decision to adopt permanent daylight time will disrupt sleep patterns and have a negative effect on overall health, especially for children, for whom adequate sleep is critical for brain development.

      @RantingCanuck Standard Time keeps us in-sync with our sun’s zenith. 12:00 = 90°!

        @vbeyette @RantingCanuck
        It does seem like the natural choice 🌞

        But then I figure maybe I’ll just get up before everyone else if I want

        The clocks matter less than the changing

          @RantingCanuck

          Funny how so many ranting about seasonal time changes are fine crossing multiple timezones for the sake of (planet-ruining) air travel on a regular basis.

          What is all the fuss about?

          And why exactly do we need summer sun-up at 4:00 a.m.?

            @RantingCanuck

            It does NOT matter whether is is standard time or DST as long as it remains constant. If there are health issues related to when people wake up or go to bed or start or end work or school we can change those times.

            Those times are not consistent anyway. Traditionally factory or construction work was 8 to 4 and office work 9 to 5, though those hours vary now and some people work shift work and some people work 12 hour shifts, some work flexible hours. Even schools have different hours to provide more flexible bussing.

            So for many, perhaps most, whether we are on Standard Time or DST does not determine their waking or sleeping hours.
