Degradations occurred in parts of the Northeast, Midwest, High Plains, South, and West, with areas of improvement in Tennessee, Missouri and Idaho. Improvements occurred in Puerto Rico and Hawaii. Mixed conditions occurred in the Southeast and Alaska.

@droughtcenter @czarbucks I can’t imagine this is accurate. it has been raining almost nonstop in KC for a week. Everything is completely and totally soaked.

Hi JL, each week the US Drought Monitor author coordinates with drought experts from every state. Drought is determined by assessing various factors including precipitation, soil moisture and many other types of data.

@droughtcenter @czarbucks The missouri or kansas expert must be on spring break or asleep at the wheel. It's even been the nice good "low and slow" soaking rain. So much mud. Ugh.
