    @itsfoss I see a lot of reference to Zen Browser. It looks great, I like the organization features, and it's FOSS. But what about plugins? There are a few plugins that I use that aren't directly related to making the browser behave that I use constantly. Proton Pass is a good example. It looks as if the plugin space is lacking so far, but the benefits may actually outweigh this shortcoming.

    @itsfoss nm. Answered my own question. Since it's built on Mozilla Firefox, you can just install Firefox plugins.

        @itsfoss 1) Firefox 2) Vivaldi
        FF was always the browser of my choice. For decades now. And will be, if only US will not brake or block it for EU(chances are so close to zero...). But I also like Vivaldi, so it will be backup plan...

          @Kdude @rustbuckett @AAKL @itsfoss and then of course there's the value proposition. As much as 90% of the mastodon audience might disagree. Some people do not care about _some_ security measures. Not even if you explained to them why.

          Which of course loops back to the "it just needs to do it by default" crowd. But there's always gonna be some degree of give and take. /e

          @wolfkin @Kdude @rustbuckett @itsfoss You'd be surprised how many people actually don't care if their data is pilfered through their favorite apps, for example. They'd rather continue using their apps. Privacy and security are learned. So raising awareness is important, but more so is what you said about having some guardrails embedded by default. You can be sure a lot of companies will never do that, though, since people are their commodities.

              #ZenBrowser on desktop, #Waterfox on Android, and #Vivaldi as a Chromium backup.

                It's based on Firefox, so as long as the plugins you use are available there, you can install it on Zen.

                          @AAKL @itsfoss @Kdude @wolfkin I get so frustrated with people when talking about privacy. The argument, "I don't care. I don't have anything to hide." completely misses the point. You actually have everything to hide! Privacy is a human right. It wasn't so much an issue when the only way to invade someone's privacy was to actually go to their location and actively, physically invade. But it *is* an issue now, and it's only getting worse.

                              @rustbuckett @itsfoss @Kdude @wolfkin You get to a point where silence is the best answer when faced with "the app can take all the date it wants."

                              You can't protect people from themselves.

                                @rustbuckett @AAKL @itsfoss @Kdude That's a good point at the end. It used to be more work to invade someone's privacy. And like income, awareness hasn't caught up to modern times.

                                It's a touch less about apathy, and a touch more about being unable to comprehend how dangerous any given stance is.

                                I'm certainly not immune to it and I'm just another nobody online.
