the problem with having Ableton in a little box & dozens of parameters mapped for realtime control is that i can do basically anything imaginable with it.

(i hope this doesn't come off as complaining because it's definitely not meant to. it's more just noticing things i could've done better.)
that said, i'm still tweaking the set so may be limiting a bit, paring things back a touch still? just thinking out loud here.

@tsrono Always hard to get the right balance between not enough control and constantly getting lost because you have too many things. I'm always tinkering with my jam rig trying to find the perfect balance.

@skullzy no doubt on that...from the jam clips i've seen you post it's pretty tight & focused.
and i'm usually good about just programming the things i need/want for that particular track or tracks into whatever the setup is at that time, but designing this big live set (~40 minutes) i wanted to make sure i had a lot of options in there for the whole run to feel varied and interesting, i kinda went overboard i guess

@tsrono no, it doesn’t come across as a complaint. I guess every time we learn something. There is a gazillion amount of ways. I am curious about the specific setup you’re talking about here

@elifyalvac definitely doing a lot of learning
lolit's Push 3 Standalone + Torso S-4 + Faderfox PC12. i've spent a ton of time programming instruments/beats/sections/etc. in Ableton & lots of mapping of live controls to the PC12, & an extra layer of live manipulation with the S-4. it's great. stellar. but just...almost too much i guess is all. i should've been a little more focused, ultimately.

@tsrono I feel you. it's so easy to go overboard. I'm sure you'll find the sweet spot before show time.

@tsrono Oh, never used torso s-4 but I get the appeal especially because it can be your beautiful granular instrument outside all the mappings. PC 12 is super convenient but then hard to keep up with all the stuff. Have you been happy with standalone push btw? The setup is quite minimal when you look at it, sounding really convenient physically but I get that when a lot is going on it is hard to keep up. I am guessing all the practices and takes and jamming bring some perspective, which results in a clearer focus eventually… and sometimes changes. or no changes.

@elifyalvac i'm not actually using the granular much on this full stereo out from P3 > S-4, but it's nice to have that option for sure.
having some vague method to the PC12 has helped, i used it as the basis for designing the Ableton set.
P3SA is rather good but honestly laptop+controller is probably the best way to go. i could run it like that still ofc...not as convenient as just a laptop + controller/s tho lol
def getting lots of perspective these last couple days focused on it
