My wife's in hospital with a suspected stroke. She went mad gardening the other day (she's older than me and doesn't realise she may have to take it easy) and has been having trouble walking since. I tried to get her to go the next day but she didn't want to make a fuss.

Anyway, they're doing a scanner but that can only reveal a positive. She'll have to wait until tomorrow morning for the MRI scan.

    Sitting at home shitting myself.

@davep keeping everything crossed that whatever the cause, it turns out to be minor and easily treatable. Sending you both best wishes, and hope she is fully recovered and back home (resting!) very soon.

@davep I've got no words to help. I can tell you to stay calm and deal with facts as they come, but that won't be the reality of it.

I can say I feel for you and hope for some good news tomorrow.

@davep My wife is older than me. A week and a half ago she had a fall (tripped over a box left on the floor in the cafe at the medical center) and broke her arm. Then spent a couple days in the hospital. She’s home, and cranky. It’s going to be a long slow road to recovery.

@StOnSoftware Thanks, the Docs didn't seem too freaked out under my interrogation, and they seemed to know the cascading logic towards diagnosis. It feels quite positive.

Thanks for your support everyone. Even though she's yet to have the MRI scan the current doc thinks it's not a stroke, which is good news. But she's going to be in for a few days so I'll be bringing her a load of stuff later.

@davep I can tell you how it went with me.
The doc called the emergency service and I was raced to the hospital in the ambulance.

There they scanned my head to make sure i didn't have brain hemorrhage.
Next they pumped me full with blood thinners.
Was put in a hospital bed for two days and was monitored full time.

                            Released,

                            Some tests, coordination, walking.

Stamped "Cured", it sure was a stroke.

                            Should stop smoking. *cough*

A brain hemorrhage is double scary.

                            Take good care!!

                                      Oh, shit 😲

Does your local hospital have fast track assessment for suspected strokes?

Thanks for your support everyone. Even though she's yet to have the MRI scan the current doc thinks it's not a stroke, which is good news. But she's going to be in for a few days so I'll be bringing her a load of stuff later.

After the MRI scan... she's cleared for strokey stuff. Yay!

She's been offered a stay in a convalescence place and I'm currently telling her she'd be mad not to take up the offer.

The doc will call me in a couple of minutes and I'll try to get her to convince Carla to go and have a chill out.

                                        Looking good 😊
