    A story of #Kate editor from #KDE:

    Moving a file by *renaming* (e.g. from blah.txt to subfolder/blah.txt) spares the time it takes to close the file in the editor, then manually move it, then reopen in the editor.

    However Kate's document selector recently (april 2026) forgot what a POSIX path is and seems to believe that ".." is a valid folder name, and happily renders two impossible parent folders 🤡
