    The best decision I made in my working life was dropping to a four day week. Seriously, if you can make it work economically, do it.

      @ianbetteridge I did 4x10 for a year shortly after graduating.

      It was a very fun year.

      (I know that isn't what you are suggesting)

          @cmniciosaig Absolutely. And for me I think it will make retiring easier too - I’m only five or six years off it, and I suspect going from five days a week to zero would be a bit of a shock.

            @ianbetteridge I'm desperate to find a way to do this. Full time job plus being a carer leaves precious little time and energy for me to be me right now.

              @ianbetteridge the company I work for allows a nine day fortnight, as long as the work gets done. A four day week would be even nicer, but it’s a good start and made such a difference.

                  @jontringham @ianbetteridge

                  "as long as the work gets done" is NOT working less, it's just more flexibility and if salary is also lowered totally exploitative.

                    @ianbetteridge @essexman
                    Honestly, I am more than willing to accept a lower pension (in an far, unforeseeable future) in exchange to a better life right now and during decades.

                      @ianbetteridge I honestly think we need to make the 32h work week the new default full time. There’s enough studies that support this change.

                        @L___ @ianbetteridge salaries didn’t change, and most people find they are more productive during those nine days so there’s been no issue with the work getting done. Everyone likes it.
