The first UK opinion poll conducted following the Green Party’s win in the Gorton And Denton by-election is quite something:

    Reform: 23% (-1)
    Green: 21% (+4)
    Labour: 16% (-2)
    Conservative: 16% (-2)
    Lib Dem: 14% (=)

“The Greens are now the most popular party in all age categories under 50. Some 49% of 18-24 year olds would back the Greens, as well as 27% of 25 to 49-year-olds.”

Lib-Dem / Green Party coalition is a decent potential match up.

@katemorley All usual caveats about one poll etc, but that really is an extraordinary set of numbers.

@katemorley quick, better raise the voting age to 50 before anyone else with detectable levels of human decency gets elected!

@katemorley I can’t be happy, considering your voting system and the far-right still at the top. That’s not the UK I would be happy with. #nofascism #stopfarage

It would be interesting to know the distribution of second choices for each of those categories.

@katemorley I think the true problem with western democracies is that the establishment parties stopped standing for anything and instead let all decisions be done by consultants; and they utterly fail to understand this despite decades of decline.

@katemorley Wait until the Westminster propaganda machine ramps up, that will soon change. They will find some shit to sling at Polanski. They will probably tar him an antisemite and a terrorist supporter, they did that to Corbyn

Aren't they talking about revising down to 16?

@Black_Flag probably not if they see this.

@Black_Flag If LibDems coalitioned with Greens then I either wouldn't vote Green, or just wouldn't vote. Maybe "your party" if they got their act together, but it looks like they'll be a clown show for the foreseeable.

The first UK opinion poll conducted following the Green Party’s win in the Gorton And Denton by-election is quite something:

                                    Reform: 23% (-1)
                                    Green: 21% (+4)
                                    Labour: 16% (-2)
                                    Conservative: 16% (-2)
                                    Lib Dem: 14% (=)

“The Greens are now the most popular party in all age categories under 50. Some 49% of 18-24 year olds would back the Greens, as well as 27% of 25 to 49-year-olds.”

@katemorley Reform leading is pretty terrifying, even if the voting system won't necessarily translate those numbers into seats.

@bob But they wouldn't tell you that before the vote. It would only come to pass after. As in 2010.
