The European Parliament is voting again THURSDAY 26th at 11:00 on Chat Control. The Commission, Council, multiple tech giants, the Conservatives (EPP), and several MEPs from S&D and Renew stand united in favouring indiscriminate mass surveillance.

@chatcontrol @echo_pbreyer So let me see if I understood: Parlament voted No. LIBE voted No. And then the re vote is marked with 9 days until the expiration date.

If this one comes out as a (hopefully not) 'Yes' to mass scanning - then what? It's 2 No's to 1 yes. Then what? Is it accepted, gone through with that answer? Is it marinated in nothing? More votes?

Does the two other no's mean absolutely nothing to the point they can just demand another vote? Surely, this is not democratic?

@Null03 @chatcontrol @echo_pbreyer it feels like the people pushing for this should be investigated for corruption. There is no way this is a normal

@Null03 @echo_pbreyer ... and this is why the repeat vote undermines the Parliament's institutional integrity as also noted by MEP Irena Joveva earlier today.

@chatcontrol @echo_pbreyer Already sent and prepared emails for tomorrow. It's the audacity that irks me. Quite literally, what stops us from coming forward and saying, the next day also, "Actually no! I want another re-vote too!" Like, my god..

The E.P.P., with members from the German C.D.U. and C.S.U., is a threat to freedom everywhere. This is a good time to remember that they've been caught collaborating in secret WhatsApp chat groups with neonazi parties like A.F.D. and parties from Marine Le Pen and Giorgia Meloni, so no surprise they are pushing fascist agendas like chat control. And fuck all the members of Renew and S&D who helped them, they all need to be kicked out A.S.A.P.

interesting how the vote is refered to on the parliaments website

"Proposal for a regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council amending Regulation (EU) 2021/1232 as regards the extension of its period of application"
