@Strandjunker he doesn't side step anything. Nothing significant will change. False premise.

@Strandjunker I mean, he absolutely is sidestepping all his promises regarding upholding the rights of trans people and ensuring their access to healthcare with flimsy excuses and/or silence

        1. I've written a few times about Mamdani and what he can do for trans people to uphold his promises. But there are disingenuous people who apparently do not read articles, so I figured I would lay out his power and what other trans journos want him to do here directly and what is in his power. @Strandjunker If I explain it to you like you are in kindergarten, Trump could understand it. Maybe we want to avoid that.

@Slyence @Strandjunker Balancing a budget is easy when you don’t let the ultra wealthy socialize all the risk and privatize all the profit.

@sleepy62 @Strandjunker I get your point, but in many ways, this is what the system is built to produce. If you require politicians to solicit donations, then you incentivize corruption.

@Strandjunker @Slyence @pier taxation on unused homes is increasing the wealth tax as well as taking some money from others - share the pain not just blame. Short term vs long term that is where you will see the difference.

@antjbro @wonka @Strandjunker in monster inc they needed children to be afraid. Turned out they actually didn’t, that was just the first thing they found that worked and they never tried to move past it.

@Strandjunker @petrillic Well I mean he is a city executive with a friendly council so there’s a ton he can do in the city by fiat and very little he can do beyond without hitting those bureaucracies.

But credit to him – he’s using his executive powers very actively and creatively in ways that should embarrass most big city mayors.

@donaldball @Strandjunker @petrillic I think the point about not being able to effect change beyond the city is also a hidden reason. The “city” is the size of many nations, by metrics other than landmass. He has an amazing array of arrows in his quiver just because of the sheer size of his economy. The NYPD has 34,700 member, Border Patrol only has 21,000 members after their unprecedented surge.

@Strandjunker balancing a budget is easy when you rob Peter to pay Paul and hard when you try to actually balance a budget

@Slyence @Strandjunker why? Balancing a budget is simple math. Its addition and subtraction. Bigger numbers doesn’t make it more complicated.
