I couldn’t think of a better way for me to celebrate the lovely reception to Pedometer++ v8’s launch than to head to my favorite trails in the English Lakes and put it to some good use.
@_Davidsmith So glorious!

@_Davidsmith so close to where I live (kinda), love it there!

@_Davidsmith I have all but dropped the Workouts app on my Ultra 3 now, and always use Pedometer++ with is glorious OS Maps.
The only thing I miss are workout end reminders… my 6 mile walk in Radnor ended up as a 13 mile track as I drove back home and forgot to end it

).@simonharper it’s on the todo list. I had one too recently where I ended up with a 30 mile run averaging 60mph

@_Davidsmith Dave, congratulations on v8. The new version looks gorgeous. That said, I have a quibble and a question, since you mentioned testing.
I don't need maps, since my walks are often around the same circuit. So the new map-first UI adds a bit of friction for me.
Worse, I can't find the one number I want most: how many steps I've taken. That used to be configurable. Am I missing something?

Related. I was curious how much actual field testing I’ve done for Pedometer++ over the years. So I put together a little app to summarize the stats for it (and it’s related test apps).
I’ve spent 1,727hrs (72 days) walking, running or hiking with it, covering 3,221 miles.

@_Davidsmith This made me curious about whether this was shorter or farther than it would be to walk some long route across North America, so I picked a couple arbitrary restaurants in Maine and Washington state that seemed like they might be quite a ways apart, and as long as you have your passport…

@_Davidsmith @siracusa the stats at the bottom of the settings screen always blow my mind: more than 35 million steps and almost 24,000 km in 13 years???

@_Davidsmith now that is some dedication, and it shows!

@otolithe @_Davidsmith @siracusa is your date format d/m/y? I only ask because my ped++ starts on October 5th 2013

@_Davidsmith @siracusa Very impressive. But…perhaps doesn’t compute? Are the hours rounded up? Because that’s under 2mph.
(Absolutely no shade intended!)
