I do regularly say "I don't want to live in this world any more".
Between utter failure to make progress on stopping global warming, to the rich pushing fascism on the rest of us, so they can avoid the consequences of global warming, it feels like everything is going to keep getting worse for hundreds of years.
my attitude is to go down fighting
if you're surrounded by 20 goons, you can feel hopeless
or you can go out swinging with a stupid grin on your face
that's my approach
"rage rage against the dying of the light" and all that
anyone who just curls up in a ball and accepts defeat?
this is not the real left
all there is, and ever was, in this world, is the good fight
you fight, you may lose
you may also win
if you give up you will lose
there are no better terms in this world

@benroyce When I worked at Linux Networx, the first customer they gave me all to my lonesome was a USAF facility in Idaho Falls. And this machine was running classified scenarios concerning radar (and that's all I'm going to say about that) but this cluster was so sad. It was a used cluster, not even an LNXI machine, just the head-node was, with the nodes shoved in a rack with the wrong sized screws. And they said, there is no funding for non-nuclear shit to buy a new cluster.

i can't stand fucking whiners "on the left" talking defeatism. or so fucking stupid they don't understand that that is what not voting is
even if they are invested in some other attempt to defeat #fascism
that other track will have tactical thinkers going "oh, but also #vote, that's good vandalism/ sabotage"
all these fucking whiny entitled lazy assholes "on the left" are nothing but willingly and meekly submitting to fascism if THEY DON'T FUCKING VOTE

Voting is fundamental to this fight.
The reason the fascists are in power is because so many people have walked away and didn't think their votes mattered. 1/3 of Americans didn't bother to vote in the last election.
Well guess what? Those votes do matter and they matter more now than ever. If you don't think politiicians represent you or work for you, REPLACE them with people who will. You do that by voting, by paying attention and most importantly holding people accountable. Maybe you won't get all your favourite candidates, but you may get a few and those few matter when you are building a movement.
They WANT you to give up. They WANT you to feel powerless. Why give them the satisfaction?

Heck we're in an information war facing wealthy adversaries willing to use any form of manipulation they have access to, to stay in power.
I feel like the owners of the oil industry are collaborating international in trying to maintain oil's control over global society. The adversaries we face include western companies using advertising and buying out media, to Putin & MbS doing sabotage and murdering people to stay in power.
I strongly suspect some of those voices arguing that voting is pointless are paid propaganda agents.
It's certainly worth voting, though to get to a decent world to live in will also take protesting and lobbying.

Obtaining this 'proof' will be beyond the means of many citizens, thus restricting the power of the vote and further disenfranchising the populace.

This makes the majority to lose hope in democracy and look upon other stragies if not sitting and wait until they become victims of the bad governance. People need to show up at town halls and demand candidate meetings.
You need to treat your politicians as employees and interview them, not just pick the team based on what the party is giving you. The party should not have more power than the people. That makes it too easy to buy them.
The United States is so wealthy there is no reason why life cannot be better for all its citizens. The only reason I can see is that the people have abdicated civic responsibility for entertainment.
