Such as slowing down the game speed!
To accomplish this, when set to SGB mode it sends a special input macro within 25ms. Only possible with this gamepad.

@SuperSelena64
Interesting!
I do have a working Super Game Boy...
(Got it second hand back in 2005, for 50€.With console, 2 genuine controllers, one 3rd party, mouse and pad, 13 games among which SMK, SMAS, SMW, aLttP, NBA Jam, DKC, Mario Paint. Many bangers...)
That was my greatest deal.)

@SuperSelena64 Been reading datasheet for serial LED drivers and it’s kind of the same thing. They all use a pretty standard interface, so extra functionality modes get enabled through secret special handshakes on otherwise normal signaling. It’s all dirty hacks and no method is the same between manufacturers.

What’s the input macro? How does it slow it down?

It's also interesting that the Super Game Boy and the Japanese-exclusive Super Game Boy 2 have different clock speeds from one another (SGB2 was accurate to the original Game Boy) and so the Speed button on this controller results in two different reduced playback speeds depending on which version of Super Game Boy it is!
