@annaecook I can't count the number of times I've been told to show up early for an interview. I ignore this advice every time. If a company isn't going to hire me because I didn't jump through an invisible hoop for them, I'm not interested in working there.

@jgarber @annaecook While some government licensing goes too far, I think a "license to reliably show up on time" could be useful, because all this padding is for people that cannot show up on time. I get it, some people just can't and I don't fault them. But I DO know how to show up on time, so let's have a formal agreement and third party certification so I can be trusted with the real start time

@annaecook Your appointment with the doctor is at 10am, but you have an appointment with the medical administrator before that.
See also: airline flight schedules. All the way through booking & advance notification, all you ever see is the take-off time. You have to read the fine print & do some research on the airport to figure out bag drop-off cut-off times & how long to leave for security. Only once you're checked in do they switch to telling you the boarding time.

@annaecook show up early to fill out the paperwork that you already did online and that we already had on record from last year anyway oh and by the way the doctor will keep you waiting for 45 minutes after that no matter what
