        @koen_hufkens Heh heh...

        I recall a survey that showed that the "ah ha" moment to Ph.D was usually 6 to 18 months, but the actual time was 3 to 6 years. I tell people that this means a Ph.D. means to 2½ to 5½ years spent FAILING... every day... going in and failing.

        Then I told this story to a young lady who had joined our glass blowing group. And she replied, "well... I was at (UC??) and we did a great experiment and got a really good paper in Cell, and I was done my Ph.D. in 9 months."

        😶 ... damn ...
