HUGE PSA. There is no way to add your iPhone with Apple Care on an iPhone Upgrade Program to Apple Care One. No matter what they tell you. They require you to LEAVE the Apple Upgrade program to do so. Absolute garbage customer service. Garbage. Avoid Apple Care One at all costs! Cc @jsnell and @dmoren
@film_girl I wonder how @siracusa is doing with his AppleCare One “experience“.

@jaylyerly @film_girl I canceled it ages ago because it doesn’t work with Macs that multiple people log into.

@film_girl That stinks. I have yet to hear anyone who has had a good experience with this program. Apparently it is especially bad if you have a computer with multiple users who are signed in with AppleIDs too. Also doesn’t seem to work for families.
It’s mind boggling that the very apparent shortfalls have not been addressed or promoted warnings that specific circumstances are not covered. @siracusa has a whole story too!

@film_girl @covercash @jsnell I had a reader reach out with a similar problem, and I agree, it sounds like despite what they told me, it's essentially impossible?
@dmoren @covercash @jsnell it’s also different from what I was told over the phone first. My guess is when they swapped from AC to AC with theft and loss as your only AC option on phones, the theft and loss part being an insurance program is impossible to disentangle. But ofc that’s not what their rep told me yesterday. It was the guy who called me back today that did all that. This was after I’d created an AC One plan (at their direction) and added devices to it. Which I can’t go back from.

@siracusa @jaylyerly when you canceled did you have the option to just pay monthly I guess for those Macs that were enrolled?

@film_girl I think it refunded whatever was unused and those devices were then just without AppleCare. I re-enrolled them in “normal” AppleCare (monthly).

@siracusa right that was what I knew would happen — sadly the monthly is more expensive than the annual/3-year and so it winds up making AC One a wash/even price wise. But I’m pissed this essentially cost me $30 just on principle.

@film_girl Yes, I lost money on the whole experience because my earlier plans were cheaper.

@siracusa @film_girl Apple should hire someone with an actual family to design its family-related features and services.
